Nutrition in Public Schools

I came across this [TED] talk by Ann Cooper who is working to make school lunches healthier and teaching children about food and nutrition. I really like how she describes tying gardening and cooking together in the classes she has oversight on. Lots of things she says aren’t ground breaking in the least, but within the context of public schools it is a no-brainer. Her point about spending more on a gourmet coffee than it costs to buy school lunch for a week for one child is particularly poignant.

I’d like to see the vegetable orchestra in the music curriculum too 🙂

I don’t have any kids of my own, but if we teach nothing in our schools we should at least teach children how to take care of their bodies and eat to be healthy.

  1. Hi nice post, i have come across your site once before when searching for something so i was just wondering something. I love your theme, would it happen to be a free one i can download, or is it a custom one you had made? In a few months i may get my own domain, but i don’t know how to setup themes so i don’t mind paying someone to make me a nice one and set it all up. Do you know any good WordPress designer companies, thanks for your help. 🙂
