Is it me or does the Microsoft Tag service seem like another one of their efforts to make a proprietary version of something that already works? What is the added value of Microsoft Tag over QR codes? Am I the only one irritated I have to download ANOTHER scanner to read these codes? Sure would be nice to use one of the many QR code scanner apps I’ve already installed.
Well, it turns out these are High Capacity Color Barcodes that can supposedly convey more data, depending on which color scheme they employ – using 2, 4, or 8-color palettes. I’m still a little irritated I have to install a separate app to read them.
